Dermal Fillers

Conquering the aging process is easier than you think! You can battle those fine lines and wrinkles with injectable fillers such as Juvederm and Voluma. Fillers can be used to reduce the presence of crow’s feet, frown lines, facial scars and can help with uneven contouring of the face. Dermal fillers differ from BOTOX injections in their ability to work with the body to produce collagen, which gives the skin a more youthful and vibrant appearance.

Juvederm

Juvederm is made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your body that helps to add volume and hydration. Juvederm is commonly used to erase “parentheses lines” around the mouth. Known as nasolabial folds, these lines run from the bottom of the nose to the corner of the mouth. Juvederm can also be used around the eyes or in the lips to add volume. Injections are administered under the skin in a procedure that only takes a couple of minutes. Patients that receive Juvederm can go home the same day with no “downtime.” This means that you can return to your normal activities as soon as your appointment is over.

Voluma

Voluma is a non-invasive way to get a mini-facelift without surgery. Using the same hyaluronic acid as Juvederm, Voluma is injected into the cheek area to increase volume and give your cheeks a youthful plumpness. While Juvederm is used to erase fine lines and wrinkles, Voluma is used for restoring firmness to sunken cheeks, giving the face a more contoured and youthful appearance. Because it is non-invasive, there is no recovery time associated with Voluma and most patients can return to their normal activities the same day as their appointment.

Side Effects of Injectable Fillers

Side effects are extremely rare, but include redness, tenderness and swelling at the injection site. There is also a chance of infection. All of these conditions are rare and can be reduced even more by making sure that a board certified plastic surgeon is administering the injections with the training and experience to accurately determine the amount of filler you need and the exact placement of the filler for the best results.

Dr. Huddleston can help you determine which facial filler will be right for you. In some cases, it may be advised to add Botox in addition to Juvederm or Voluma to get the best possible results. Dr. Huddleston offers free consultations for patients who are wanting injectable facial fillers. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment!
